Psychedelics is a very controversial topic, especially with the political baggage surrounding it, so of course I'm going to talk about this. Most people naturally stay away from psychedelics just because of the legal status alone. But some people stay away from it for completely different reasons, I mean I personally know quite a few people who would smoke meth, snort coke and other hard drugs that really fuck you up, yet they wouldn't even consider ever trying a psychedelic. Why is that?
I went to Kapitari about 2 months ago now, and I thought it was about time I briefly share how wonderful this place is.
Kapitari is a beautiful retreat located in the Amazon jungle, not too far from Iquitos. The shaman goes by the name of Don Lucho, but his real name is Luis Culquiton. Don Lucho is one of the most humblest and wisest men I have ever met. He's had over 40 years of shamanic experience, and the cool thing about Don Lucho is, unlike most other shamans, he is self-taught and has learnt almost everything he knows directly from the Ayahuasca plant himself.
Before I start I want to make sure that you guys know that I'm not necessarily bashing religion, I'm just saying it how it is from my perspective. This is probably going to deeply offend some of you, but my goal here is to clear up the misconception surrounding spirituality. I just want to try and make the distinction between spirituality and religion, because there is actually quite a big difference between religion and spirituality, in fact they're polar opposites. So yea... I apologize in advance to those who get upset, but just remember that these are only words, so relax.
Ayahuasca is something I had been thinking about doing for quite some time. I have heard it in passing before, that it’s some crazy psychedelic drug that will make you trip balls. In that period of my life I wasn’t interested in spiritual growth or any ‘Hippy bullshit’; I was just interested in getting fucked up, basically.
About a year ago I heard about Ayahuasca in much more detail, listening to the Joe Rogan Podcast, particularly the podcast with Graham Hancock, Aubrey Marcus & Amber Lion, and their experiences with the plant medicine. I got more and more interested the deeper I researched this psychedelic plant; especially its healing properties. There have been many cases and studies of Ayahuasca completely curing mental illnesses such as; anxiety, depression and PTSD. I’ve even heard of some cases where people get cured of their cancers and tumours. This is because Ayahuasca gets to the root of the problem, instead of just treating the symptoms like many traditional medicines do. I mean have you ever heard of a case when antidepressants have actually completely cured someone of depression?
